At least 32 people were killed and many others injured after an explosion took place at a Shia mosque in Afghan city of Kandahar during Friday prayers.

The cause of the explosion could not be known immediately, reports Al Jazeera.

The mosque was full of people when the blast occurred and at least 15 ambulances were at the scene.

Last Friday, a suicide attack on a Shia mosque in the northern city of Kunduz killed at least 50 people.

IS-K said it carried out the attack, which was the deadliest since the US forces left the country at the end of August.
