Alesha Mart offered Tk 350cr discounts on motorcycles in 6 months

E-commerce company Alesha Mart has offered discounts worth Tk 350 crore on sales of motorcycles and made a profit of Tk 140 crore by selling other products in six months.

“We started selling motorcycles at discount rates. However, no discounts were offered on other products,” said its Chairman Manzur Alam Sikder at a news briefing in a Dhaka hotel on Sunday.

The platform sold products worth Tk 1,100 crore since its launching in January this year, according to him.

The company held the press briefing amid piles of allegations lodged by the consumers against the several e-commerce companies’ unethical practices.

“There are many complaints about e-commerce companies. Everyone may look the same. But so far there are no allegations against us. No supplier will get money from us,” said Sikder.

Alesha Mart was set up as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility Program (CSR), he said.

Alesha Mart is a concern of Alesha Holdings Group of Industries. The group has 19 companies. Of which, 11 are in operations and four are profitable. The profitable companies provide the discounted cash to Alesha Mart.
