Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has urged Australia to invest in Bangladesh’s ICT, telecommunication, jute and blue economic sectors.

Momen made the request in a tele conversation with Australian Foreign Minister Marise Ann Payne on Tuesday.

Both the foreign ministers expressed their satisfactions over the progress of TIFA treaty in boosting the trade and commerce between the two countries.

Australia has a wide range of prospect to cooperate Bangladesh with its environment friendly and renewable technology and energy and Bangladesh expects Australian cooperation in improving skills of its human resources through providing training, Momen said.

also thanked his Australian counterpart for their uninterrupted supports to the homeless Rohingya people now living in Cox’s Bazar.

He also requested Marise Ann Payne to put pressure on Myanmar spontaneously to ensure an immediate repatriation of the Rohingyas.

He also called upon all organisations to consider their supports as assistance for the Rohingya people of Myanmar instead of assistance for Bangladesh.
