Iraqi chambers keen to sign cooperation deal with FBCCI

The Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce has shown interest in signing a cooperation agreement with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI).
Abdussalam Saddam Mohaisen, Charge De Affairs of Embassy of Iraq to Bangladesh, expressed his interest during a courtesy call on FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin recently, said a press release.
He said a letter has already been sent to the foreign ministry. Saddam Mohaisen also handed over a copy of the letter to the FBCCI president.
During the meeting, Jashim Uddin said that the FBCCI has strategic partnerships with 132 trade associations of different countries. It is also interested in agreements with Iraq’s apex trade body, he said, adding that a draft copy of the MoU will be sent to the Iraqi embassy soon.
He called on Iraq to import various products including ready-made garments from Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, FBCCI senior vice-president Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu said that as Iraq goes through reconstruction, many Bangladeshi companies are interested in investing in the construction sector in Iraq.
The ambassador assured the Iraqi government will provide all possible assistance to the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs in this regard.
FBCCI Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Mahfuzul Hoque was also present on the occasion.
