The Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association has reset the prices of sugar. It said it made the change as the prices of the essential item increased on the world market.

From now on, the maximum retail price of per kilogram of unpacked sugar will be Tk 74 while the same amount of packed sugar will be Tk 75.

The Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association made the decision after holding a meeting with the commerce ministry and Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission on Thursday, considering the international market price of unrefined sugar and the production cost of the local refiners.

Earlier on September 5, the Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association proposed that the government fix per kilogram of unpacked sugar at Tk 85 and packed one at Tk 98 in line with the international market.
