All BGMEA factories clear workers’ salary, Eid bonus

Salary of March and bonus for Eid-ul-Fitr of the workers of all member factories of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have been cleared, said the trade body.

"Our member factories have cleared the salary of March and bonus for Eid-ul-Fitr to their workers," said BGMEA President SM Mannan Kochi at a press briefing held at the BGMEA office at Uttara on Wednesday, reports BSS.

He said around 600 factories were facing financial problems in paying the salaries and bonuses. But finally, the number of such factories came down to 25 because of countrywide strict monitoring by 22 committees formed by BGMEA to look after the matter, he added.

"At last, the BGMEA intervened and the 25 factories cleared their payments," the BGMEA President said, adding that with this, the payment of March salary and Eid bonus to the workers of all BGMEA member factories completed".
