Rahman for achieving export target of Tk15,000cr in fisheries sector

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman on Sunday laid emphasis on providing more efforts to achieve the export target of Taka 15,000 crore in the fisheries sector.

“Bangladesh will have to achieve the export target of Taka 15,000 crore in the fisheries sector. To increase production, innovative thinking should be adopted and implemented,” he said, reports BSS.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on “Problems and Prospects of Bangladesh's Fish Processing Industry in the Context of Transition from Least Developed Country" held at BIDA's multipurpose hall in the city.

Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Lokman Hossain Miah presided over the workshop.

Abdur Rahman said the fisheries sector has been playing a vital role to national development by providing safe animal meat, creating healthy and talented human resources, poverty alleviation, employment generation and earning valuable foreign exchange.
