The government has worked out fees for providing services to the individual citizens using ‘Porichoy’ platform which will investigate and confirm the identities of the service recipients under the government’s e-services system.

The decision was approved in a virtual meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement held on Wednesday and virtually presided over by Finance Minister, AHM Mustafa Kamal.

At the end of the meeting, Md Abdul Barik, Additional Secretary to the Cabinet Division briefed the journalists about the meeting outcome.

He said Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the Information and Communication Technology Department has approved the proposal on setting the service fee and distribution of it.

Barik said if a service fee of each of the government, semi-government and autonomous organisations is Tk 100, the data owner will receive 20 percent, BCC 20 percent and the Service Provider Authority will get the rest 60 percent, respectively.

“We have signed a contract with Diticon Global Services Limited and they will make background checks of individuals and companies seeking services,” he said.

The official said the company will do that background check. Presently, more than 170 institutions including banks, financial institutions, revenue boards, mobile service providers, telecommunication institutions and government institutions are using the ‘Porichoy’ services.

Some 72 companies, including food grain ones, have expressed interest in using it. The ‘Introduction’ service is linked to the National Digital Architecture e-service. While providing government e-services, it is easy to ensure the identity of the service recipient and keep the citizen’s data within the geographical boundaries of the country, he pointed out.

The additional secretary said it was not an open tender, the company was directly selected.
