Banglalink fastest, Teletalk lowest in internet speed: Ookla

Seattle-based Ookla has announced that Banglalink has the fastest internet speed among the mobile phone operators in Bangladesh.

Ookla came up with the announcement based on internet speed tests during the last six months of 2020.

According to the internet speed test of Ookla, Banglalink scored 14.94 in download speed and 7.09 in upload speed.

Grameenphone scored 11.97 in download speed and 8 in upload, while Robi scored 11.11 in download and 7.63 in upload.

State-run Teletalk scored the lowest with 7.17 in download while 3.03 in upload speed.

The scores have been given based on user-initiated results generated from Ookla’s Speedtest app.

“Winning this prestigious award twice in a row amid the pandemic is undoubtedly a remarkable achievement. This is yet another testimony to the consistent efforts we are making to offer the fastest mobile internet to our customers,” Banglalink Chief Commercial Officer Upanga Dutta said on the occasion.

“It shows that despite the pandemic related challenges of 2020, we succeeded in serving our customers by taking timely measures. With Banglalink’s fastest 4G, customers are highly benefited by the seamless experience of internet connectivity in their daily lives.”

According to the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission data, the total active mobile connections of the country now stand at 17.01 crore as of December 2020. Of them, 10.23 crore are internet users.
