The Citizen Information Collection Week of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will kick off from Monday with the aim of storing the information of all citizens living in the area through a mobile app.

Citizens can enter their information through the CIMS DMP app during the two-week long Citizen Information Management System (CIMS), which will continue till February 15.

Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) AKM Hafiz Akhtar disclosed the information at a press conference at the DMP's media centre on Sunday.

According to the DMP, the information collected about citizens residing in the capital will be stored for preventing crimes and ensuring public safety.

DMP is conducting data entry activities for all house owners and tenants in all 306 beats of the city.

Hafiz Akhtar further said that citizen information collection activities started from 2016.

"The information collection process plays a helpful role in crime prevention. Moreover, in case of any criminal incidents, it is easier to solve cases faster.”

He said that apart from providing citizens’ information to the beat officer of the concerned police station, anyone can fill the citizen information form through mobile apps at home.

Citizens can input their information in the CIMS mobile app by downloading it from Google Play Store.

Before the information you fill in is added to the central database, the officer-in-charge of the police station will check and sort the information provided by you and if it is correct, your information will be added to the original database of CIMS.

And if for some reason your form is incomplete or the information provided is wrong, then you will be informed via SMS on your mobile.

The DMP has called upon all the citizens living in the capital to provide information and assist the beat officers of the concerned police stations to ensure the safety of city dwellers.
