Bangladesh’s ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan who will lead traditional outfit Mohammedan Sporting Club, expressed optimism about his team's chances of picking up the title in the upcoming edition of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the most prestigious domestic cricket league in the country, beginning on May 31.

The 34-year-old believes the Mohammedan is one of the most balanced teams they have had in the past few years and that it is a massive boost for him as a captain heading into the DPL.

"Obviously our goal is to seal the top spot. As the DPL is a long tournament we are focusing to play match by match. We want to start the DPL with win as it is very important to maintain the consistency." Shakib told the media on Saturday during Mohammedan's jersey unavailing ceremony.

"T20 cricket is anyone’s game so every team is competitive here. So it is very important to hold on consistency. We are stronger enough but we have to play our best cricket from the beginning of the tournament." Shakib added.

Mohammedan has never won a trophy since DPL gained List A status starting with the 2013–14 season. However, this time the traditional outfit want to end its trophy drought.

Shakib is all set to get some notable cricketers like Taskin Ahmed, Shamsur Rahman, Abu Hider Rony, Nadif Chowdhury and Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury in his team.
