Following their 209-run defeat in the second and final Test on Monday at Pallekele, Bangladesh Test skipper MominulHaque said that the toss was the most important thing in the Test match. He believes there was nothing on the first two days for the bowlers and hence he feels the toss was crucial.

"I think most important thing in this Test match was the toss, in my view. First two days there wasn't anything for the bowlers. Almost 50 percent the Test match was decided by the toss." Mominul said after the match.

Mominul also said the conditions were very similar to home. He feels they lost the game in the first innings as they failed to put up score with the bat in the first innings.

"Lankan conditions are similar to Bangladesh, other than the humidity, with which we were struggling a bit. When you play international cricket, there will be pressure, and you have to embrace it. We lost this Test in the first innings when we were bowled out for 250. We should have batted better then."

Hosts Sri Lanka have won their first series of 2021 and have unearthed a gem in young spinner Praveen Jayawickrama who claimed 11 wickets on his Test debut as touring Bangladesh succumbed yet again in the longest form.

Bangladesh needed 436 runs to win, a task that always looked a bit farfetched. If not that, the tourists needed to bat 5 sessions to end this game in a stalemate. That too felt like a daunting task as the pitch was turning square. The visitors failed to do either. Bangladesh batters did try to put up a fight but none of the top order batter could play a marathon innings.

Taijul Islam was the star with the ball for Bangladesh in the second innings as he finished with a 5-fer. That though was not enough as once again the tourists failed to grab 10 wickets.

"I don't think we performed as a batting group except Tamimbhai in the first innings. He made a good start but we couldn't capitalize on it. If we could have batted for three or four sessions, things would have been different. We batted six sessions in the first Test." Mominul said.

"I think we should have planned specifically against particular bowlers. Some are able to execute it and some don't. For example, I have a different plan against the left-arm spinner, while Tamimbhai had a plan against the right-arm spinner. I think on occasions we failed to execute those plans." He added.
