A 21-men Bangladesh preliminary squad led by Mominul Haque reached Sri Lanka on Monday with a chartered flight of Bangladesh Biman to play a two-match test series against the island nation.

The series which was originally scheduled to be held last year was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) statement, although the matches are to be played without spectators, the media will be allowed to cover the two Tests from the Pallekele stadium under strict health guidelines.

The two-match series is the part of ICC World Test Championship. Bangladesh are yet to grab a point in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.

Following a three-day quarantine restriction, Tigers will have quarantine training from April 15-16 after which they will play a two-day inter-squad warm-up game from April 17-18. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) management will announce the final squad for Test series after witnessing the warm-up match.

Tigers are scheduled to train on April 19 and 20 before taking on Sri Lanka for the first Test on April 21 at Pallekele. The second Test will also be played at the same venue from April 29.

In their last Test series in Sri Lanka, Tigers levelled the Test series by 1-1 with breathtaking win in the last Test. The memorable victory came in their 100th Test match. It was also Tigers’ first ever Test win on Lanka soil.
