The 'Walton Open 12th National Services (Men & Women) Wrestling Competition-2024', sponsored by electronics giant Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and organized by the Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation, concluded on February 20.

Bangladesh Ansar team emerged victorious in both the men's and women's categories at the Walton Open 12th Services held at the Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex in Dhaka.

Head of the Games and Sports of the meet's sponsor, Walton's FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Don, was the chief guest at the day's closing function, and later he distributed the prizes.

General Secretary of the Wrestling Federation, Tabiur Rahman Palowan, among others, was also present on the occasion.

Ansar bagged 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals in the men’s category while 7 gold, 2 silver and one bronze medals in the women’s category on the last day of the competition held at the Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex on Tuesday.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) became runners-up with 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals while Bangladesh Army was third with 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in the men’s category.

Army finished runners-up with 2 gold and 8 silver medals and Bangladesh Police became third with one gold, one silver and 3 bronze medals in the women’s category.

Army’s Jewel and Ansar’s Rozina were adjudged the best players in their respective men’s (74kg) and women’s (76kg) categories. Both wrestlers received cash prizes of Tk 5000 each.

Walton's Senior Executive Director F.M. Iqbal Bin Anwar (Don), Senior Deputy Executive Director of Marketing and Communication Division Rabiul Islam Milton and Senior Deputy Operative Director Mehrab Hossain Asif were present at the function as the special guests.

During the event, notable attendees included Vice President of the federation, MA Quddus Khan, General Secretary Tabiur Rahman Palawan, Joint General Secretary Ashiqur Rahman Bachchu and Mesbah Uddin Azad, among others.
