Bangladesh Women’s team clinch ODI series against Pakistan

Showing an unwavering resolve, Bangladesh Women's team secured a seven-wicket win against Pakistan in the third and final ODI to clinch the series by 2-1 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Pakistan won the first match by five wickets but Bangladesh hit back to winning way when they sealed a thrilling victory in the super over in second match.
Bangladesh earlier won the three-match T20 International series by 2-1 also, reports BSS.
While the second ODI was well contested, the Tigresses refused to give the opponents any space in the third and series deciding match.
Pakistan though put up a competitive 166-9, thanks to opener Sidra Ameen's 84 not out, Bangladesh Women's side raced to the victory in 45.4 overs, making 167-3.
Openers Fargana Hoque and Murshida Khatun shared a record 125 for the opening stand to edge the side closer to the victory--- the partnership is now highest for the Women's team for the first wicket stand in their cricket history.
Fargana made team-high 62 to be adjudged player of the match. Her fellow opener Murshida scored 54.
Both of them were dismissed in the space of just two overs but captain Nigar Sultan Joty with an unbeaten 18 and Sobahan Mostary with 19 not out sailed the side home.
Nahida Akhter who claimed three wickets for just 29 runs in the third ODI was awarded player of the series for here seven wickets in three matches.
The series victory helped Bangladesh move in sixth place for the ICC Women's Championship, toppling the teams like Australia, West Indies and England.
