After winning the toss, the Bangladesh skipper Litton Das decided to bat first and posted a decent score of 271 after losing seven wickets against India in the second match of the three-match ODI series at Dhaka’s Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

However, at one point, the hosts were 69 for six after the 19th over as they were struggling against India bowlers. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad came to the rescue and in doing that Miraz smashed a ton in 83 balls.

It was his maiden ton in an ODI. The hero of the last match which Bangladesh won by a wicket, hit the century after coming into bat at number eight. That helped the all-around go into the record book as no Bangladesh batter scored a century in ODIs after coming into bat at number eight or lower.

He also became the second batter in ODI history after Ireland's Simi Singh to score a century at number eight or lower.

Miraz smashed eight dazzling-looking boundaries and four maximums. Meanwhile, Mahmudullah made 77 off 96 delivered with the help of seven boundaries.

Bangladesh were unstoppable in the death overs. 68 runs came off the last five overs, with Miraz going berserk, also aided by a handy cameo from Nasum Ahmed.
