It was a thumping victory for England as they defeated Senegal by 3-0 in the second round of the World Cup at the Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday. The Three Lions will face France in the next stage who beat Poland by 3-1.

The Europen side took a 2-0 lead before the first half as Jordan Henderson opened the scoring in the 38th minute and just before the break, Harry Kane doubled the lead.

Kane dropped deep and released Jude Bellingham sprinting away in front. He drew several defenders before he cut the ball back and Henderson was on hand to slot it below Edouard Mendy and into the back of the net.

In the added time of the first half, the English captain scored his first goal of this ongoing World Cup. Bellingham latched onto a loose ball and sparked an England counter-attack. He strode through the middle before feeding Phil Foden who immediately passed to the unmarked Kane. The Tottenham Hotspur star lashed the ball beyond a helpless Mendy to rattle the back of the net.

Thighs got worse for Senegal after the break as England found the back of the net again. Kane looked to have lost the ball but Foden charged onto it, searing down the left wing. He dribbled to the byline and fired the ball across the face of the goal, where Bykayo Saka arrived at the front post to lift it over Mendy to make it 3-0 for his side.

However, the Three Lions had looked lackadaisical for much of the first half, almost gifting Senegal the lead with two mistakes which lead to chances but came to life before the break.
