After an impressive bowling performance, Pakistan batted really well against Malaysia in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 at the Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Pakistan won the toss and invited Malaysia to bat first and restricted them to just 57 runs. In reply, Pakistan reached there in just nine overs after losing only a single wicket and got a thumping victory by nine wickets.
It was a solid start with the bat for Pakistan as the openers - Muneeba Ali and Sidra Ameen made a partnership of 45 runs which was enough to ensure the victory.
Skipper Bismah Maroof walked out and completed the chase, with a run-a-ball eight to compliment Muneeba Ali's knock of 21.
For Malaysia, spinner Sasha Azmi was the standout, as she bowled out conceding just 18 runs in her four overs while Mahirah Izzati Ismail picked up the only wicket of the innings.
Earlier in the first innings, Malaysia made a pure mismatch! This was not a good batting surface with some variable bounce and sharp turn, and Pakistan's experienced spinners coupled with Malaysia's juvenille line-up made the surface look even more difficult.
Only two players got into double figures and extras were the third highest contributor, which tells the story of this first innings.
Some classical spin bowling from Omaima Sohail and Tuba Hassan - bowling good Test match lengths, proved to be too much to handle for Malaysia.
They were beaten time and again, and did not know which way the ball was going to turn for major parts of the innings. The biggest compliment someone can give Malaysia is that they batted out their 20 overs.
