After a clinical bowling performance, West Indies started their innings brilliantly on day 1 of the second and final Test at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Friday.

The hosts collected 67 runs and lost none. After the end of day 1 play, they were trailed by 167 runs.

Tigers skipper Shakib Al Hasan used five bowlers including him but none was successful.

On the other hand, Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell were looking sharp in the middle. Brathwaite was on 30 while Campbell was unbeaten on 32 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 234 runs in their first innings after losing all 10 batters.

Liton Das smashed a half-century while Tamim Iqbal was just one shot away to hit a half-century, but he threw his wicket away and walked off after scoring 46 runs.

The other batter could not perform well, but Ebadot Hossain’s unbeaten 21 and Shoriful Islam’s fighting 26 runs helped the visitors to go close to the 250-run mark.
