Argentina defeated Italy by 3-0 to win Finalissima on Wednesday at Wembley Stadium in England. With that victory, the Albiceleste extended their unbeaten run to 32.
Lautaro Martinez scored the first goal in the 28th minute of the match. Lionel Messi turned out of Giovanni Di Lorenzo's tackle and seared down the left, crossing for Martinez inside who did not make any mistake.
Just before halftime, Angel Di Maria stretched the lead with a beautiful chip over Gianluigi Donnarumma. This time Martinez set it up perfectly for Di Maria to double the lead.
At the end of the match, Paulo Dybala put the cherry on the top to make the scoreline 3-0 for the Copa America champion. It was Messi’s second assist of the game.
The Albiceleste deservedly won the Finalissima trophy. They played like a well-oiled machine and will only become harder to stop with each passing game.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was simply unplayable throughout this game. He was desperate for a goal but was denied on several occasions by gravity-defying Donnarumma saves.
However, his performance on the pitch helped him to win the Man of the Match award. Meanwhile, Italy farewelled Giorgio Chiellini in this match too.
