It was a comfortable win for Sri Lanka as the target was just 29 runs, they reached there without losing any wicket on day 5 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday.

With that victory, the visitors win the two-match Test series by 1-0 and grabbed 12 vital Test championship points which helped them to go above Pakistan in the 2023 WTC race.

In the second innings, Bangladesh lost their first five batters when there were only 53 runs on the board. They lost the other five after adding 116 and bowled out for 169 runs.

At one stage Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das were fighting hard and thwarted the visitors with their partnership. But after Liton’s departure, the hosts lost all the wickets.

Asitha Fernando picked up six while Kasun Rajitha claimed two wickets. Ramesh Mendis bagged one wicket for Sri Lanka.

Asitha claimed a 10-wicket haul in this match which is the third-best match figure for a Lankan pacer in Test cricket.

The Shakib-Liton partnership helped the Tigers to take a lead of 28 runs but that was not enough to avoid defeat. Sri Lanka reached there in three overs.

The Tigers faced the same situation in their first innings. There were only 24 runs on the board and half of their batters were sent back to the pavilion.

But Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton’s centuries helped their side to post a good total of 365 runs. In reply, the Lankan Lions collected 506 runs after losing all 10 batters and took a lead of 141 runs.

Angelo Mathews remained unbeaten on 145 runs while Dinesh Chandimal picked up his 12th Test ton.
