It was a perfect second session for Sri Lanka. After removing the last Bangladeshi batter they came to bat. They collected 84 runs and lost none before the tea break on day 2 of the Dhaka Test on Tuesday.
Oshada Fernando rode his luck to notch up an attractive fifty. He reviewed successfully when he was on four. The opener then survived a confident Bangladesh review as well.
The right-hand batter was dropped by Shakib Al hasan on 43. Shakib could not hold onto a sharp catch.
In between, he played some fine shots, getting to his fifth Test half-century. His captain Dimuth Karunaratne was stoic at the other end. He was on 31 while Fernando was unbeaten on 52 runs.
The Tigers tried five bowlers in the second session of the day and were searching for that opening breakthrough.
