How was Mbappe convinced to stay at PSG?

Kylian Mbappe's previous contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was due to expire on June 30 and it was widely reported that Real Madrid already had an agreement in place to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer.

However, Mbappe did not move to Madrid and has signed a fresh three-year deal at Parc des Princes. But the question pops up, how did PSG convince the Ligue 1 best player to stay with them.

According to GOAL, PSG have made Mbappe their highest-paid player which means he will be paid more than Lionel Messi and Neymar.
