Bangladesh were dominating on day 5 of the Chattogram Test as they dismissed four Sri Lankan batters on Thursday.

The visitors lost two in the last session on day 4. At the time of writing this report, they were 205 for six and had a lead of 137 runs.

Taijul Islam was looking aggressive with the ball as he scalped three, while Shakib Al Hasan claimed so far wickets on day 5.

Taijul first, dismissed Kusal Mendis and then Angelo Mathews in the first session. After the lunch break, he struck again and removed the Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, who hit a half-century.

Later, Shakib claimed Dhananjaya de Silva’s wicket.

Mendis played some aggressive shots and looked dangerous. He walked back after scoring 48 in just 43 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries and an over boundary.

On the other hand, Mathews could not perform well. He was just a single run away from notching a double ton in the first innings, but this time he was dismissed for a duck.

Earlier on day 4, when the visitors came into bat. Oshada Fernando and skipper Dimuth Karunaratne were looking sharp but a bit of confusion between the wicket cost the Lankans Fernando’s wicket.

A direct hit from Taijul broke the stumps when Fernando was well short of his crease and had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs.

Later, Tiajul removed another batter in the very last ball of the day. He dismissed Lasith Embuldeniya who bagged only two runs and after the end of day 4 play, Sri Lanka were 39 for 2.
