Liverpool beat Arsenal to reach Carabao Cup final

Diogo Jota’s brace helped Liverpool to beat Arsenal at the Emirates on Thursday. This victory ensures that Liverpool will take on Chelsea in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley on 27 February.

Alexandre Lacazette gave the Gunners a promising start by hitting the ball from a free-kick, but the hosts conceded a goal in the 19th minute. In the 77th minute, Jota doubled the lead and those two goals were enough to reach the final. 

The Portugal forward now has 14 goals in 27 appearances this season for the Reds. 

“Diogo Jota's on fire,” Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp said.

"We were convinced when he arrived at the club he would help us massively.

"Since he is here he has made another step, he has turned into a really world-class striker. The mood in the dressing room is over the moon. The boys were exceptional.”

The semifinal was locked at 0-0 following the first leg at Anfield last week. This will be his fifth Cup final since Klopp took over as Liverpool coach in 2015.
