Bangladesh will take on Pakistan on Friday in a two-match Test series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. With this Test match, the Tigers will start their World Test Championship campaign.

Bangladesh Captain Mominul Haque sounded confident in the pre-match press conference on Thursday. He said that the Tigers are ready to face the upcoming Test challenge against Pakistan.

After being whitewashed against Pakistan and zero wins in the T20 World Cup, the Tigers were heavily criticized. Mominul stated, "We've been through tough times before and we've bounced back from it."

"T20 and Test are very different formats of the game. So I think judging the team with recent T20 performances will not be the right thing to do," he added.

Bangladesh will have to play without their three senior players, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad and Tamim Iqbal

Shakib will miss the match due to a hamstring injury. Mahmudullah officially retired from Test cricket while Bangladesh will not get Tamim because of his recurring finger injury.

"It won't be easy to play without those senior players but we should not be disappointed. We have to play with what we have. I think other players are motivated enough to show their mettle," Mominul mentioned.

So far Bangladesh have played 10 Tests against Pakistan. The Tigers did not win a single match. A draw came in 2015 when the men in green came to Bangladesh.

Overall Bangladesh have played 121 Tests. They were victorious in just 14 matches and lost 91 Tests. The rest of the 16 Tests were drawn.
