Bangladesh posted their first win in 2021 T20WC as they beat the host Oman by 26 runs at Al Amerat Cricket Ground and stay alive for participating in the super twelve.

On Tuesday’s game, chasing 154 runs target, Oman were onslaught from the beginning of the innings. On the other hand, Bangladesh performs shaky fielding as they miss several catches during power play.

As a result, the host posted 70 off 2 wickets in just first ten overs. Although, Oman could not hold continuity of the required run rate after dismissal of their set batter Jatender Singh (40 off 33).

However, Bangladeshi bowlers managed to keep their cool on their last half of Oman’s innings. Mustafizur took 4 wickets while Shakib bagged 3.

Spinner Mahedi Hasan and Saifuddin took 1 wicket each as well as keeping low economy rate.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 153 runs but failed to have a good start once again. In the powerplay, Bangladesh scored only 29 for two. Opener Liton Das failed once again, posting only six.

Even, Mahedi Hasan, who was promoted to number three, failed to score on today’s game.

However, in the third wicket stand, Shakib joined Naim, and they posted 80 off 53 balls. Shakib was run-out running casually for a single when he was 42 off 29.

On the other hand, Naim Sheikh hitting the highest of 64 off 50 balls which put Bangladesh a good score as target for the host.

Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt grabbed 3 wickets each.

Shakib awarded man of the match for his all-rounder performance.

Bangladesh has now one game remain from qualifier round with PNG on Tuesday. Tigers need to win over PNG to stay in the tournament.
