Despite an 80-run stand the third wicket partnership between Mohammad Naim and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh lost quick wickets against Oman in the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, and ended up dismissed for 153 in 20 overs, with Naim hitting the highest of 64 off 50 balls.

Bangladesh failed to have a good start once again. In the powerplay, Bangladesh scored 29 for two. Liton Das failed once again — posting only six. He had scored five in the first match against Scotland.

Mahedi Hasan, who was promoted to number three, failed to score.

In the third wicket stand, Shakib joined Naim, and they posted 80 off 53 balls. Shakib was run-out running casually for a single when he was 42 off 29.

While going to 122 from 101, Bangladesh lost four wickets including Shakib and Naim.

Bangladesh made a few changes to the batting line on Tuesday. Nurul Hasan got promoted in the batting order but failed to do well. Nurul fell for 3.

Afif Hossain also got promoted ahead of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah, but he failed to do well. Afif posted only 1.

Mahmudullah came to bat at seven while Mushfiur entered at number eight.

Bangladesh were batting at 127 for six at the end of 17th over.

The onus was on Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur to score as many runs as possible in the last three overs, but they failed to do so. Mushfiqur fell for six while Mahmudullah scored 17.

Three of Bangladesh first five batters were unable to reach a double-digit score.

For Oman, Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah bagged three wickets each while Fayyaz Butt and Mohammad Nadeem took two wickets each.

Bangladesh made one change to the playing XI removing Soumya Sarkar to pave way for Mohammad Naim. It will be Naim’s World Cup debut.

In the first match, Bangladesh lost to Scotland by six runs. They will now have to win this game to make their way to the Super 12s alive.

If Bangladesh loses this match, Scotland and Oman will advance to the Super 12s of the T20 World Cup, and Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea will be eliminated, reports the United News of Bangladesh.
