With Mohammedan Sporting Club’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s recent ugly act still quite fresh, the ongoing Dhaka Premier league (DPL) saw yet another shameful incident as Bangladesh cricket’s “bad boy” Sabbir Rahman who is playing in DPL for Legends of Rupganj has been accused of abusing, throwing bricks and racism.

The victim was Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club spin all-rounder Elias Sunny.

According to Sunny, the first incident took place on Sunday during DPL match between Sheikh Jamal and Rupganj at BKSP where Sunny was verbally abused by Sabbir. Not only that later on Wednesday at BKSP, Sabbir slammed Sunny with racist words and thrown stones.

“Today (Wednesday) when I was fielding at BKSP, he (Sabbir) willingly came and slammed me with ugly words that were not acceptable. We are not close as a colleague. He (Sabbir) has been playing cricket for a long time and I am also playing cricket. But he never used such ugly language to me before. Even he targeted me and threw bricks.” Sunny told media on Wednesday.

Following the incident, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club has already lodged a written complaint with the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM). Sheikh Jamal has sent a letter to CCDM chairman and BCB director Kazi Inam Ahmed seeking disciplinary action against Sabbir.

Like Shakib, Sabbir also has a history of losing cool and becoming a party to ugly exchanges and has been reprimanded and fined on several occasions for his ugly behaviour.

UNB adds: Sabbir denied the allegation, but at the same time, he said Elias also misbehaved with him, and he will also inform his club now.
