Tamim, Mushfiq shine in practice match

Bangladesh experienced batsmen Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim struck fifty as BCB Red pulled off a comfortable 5-wicket victory over BCB Green in the inter-squad practice game on Thursday at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP).
The Bangladesh preliminary squad, splitting into two groups, played the only practice match as part of their preparation for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka which will start on May 23.
Asked to bat first, Mahmudullah-led BCB Green were able to post a challenging 284 for three in the stipulated 45 overs, relying on skipper Mahmudullah’s 62, Afif Hossain’s 64 and Soumya Sarkar’s 60 run innings.
In response, Tamim Iqbal led from the front with a brisk 58-ball 80 while Mushfiqur Rahim contribute 64 runs as their side surpassed the target with 54 balls to spare.
Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who played for Green team scored 28 runs before being castled by spinner Mahedi Hasan.
Later, he took the wicket of Red’s opener Liton Das but conceded 45 runs in his 6 over spell.
Red’s skipper Tamim clubbed seven fours and four sixes in his blazing knock.
Touring Sri Lanka will also play an inter-squad game at the same venue on Friday.

Result: BCB Red won by 5 wickets.
