Bangladesh Emerging Women team pulled off a comprehensive six-wicket triumph over touring South Africa Emerging Women team in the third match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday to clinch the five-match one-day series with two matches still to go.

Tigresses produced a sensational bowling display to skittle out the visitors for 92 in 33.3 overs. Bangladesh, however, surpassed the target comfortably with 132 balls to spare.

South Africa’s decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired as none of their batsmen could manage to stay long at the crease.

Medium pacer Ritu Moni and left arm spinner Nahida Akhtar was the chief tormentor of the Bangladesh side, taking 3 wickets apiece, to rattle the visitors.

Player of the match Rabeya Khan impressed with the ball as well, claiming 3 wickets for 15 runs from her four overs.

Only four batsmen in the touring side — opener Andrie Steyn, Nondumiso Shangase, Anneke Bosch and Michaela Andrews — managed to get runs in double digits..

The touring side could never recover from the early blows and slipped to 49 for six in the 19th over, leaving the responsibility of getting runs to the tail enders.

In reply, Bangladesh opener Murshida Khatun hit a classy 46 runs as Tigresses survived a middle order meltdown to reach their goal in 28th over.

Fargana Hoque contributed 16 while skipper Nigar Sultana Joty who slammed a century in the last match scored 13.

The fourth match will be held on April 10 at the same venue.
