Momen meets Japanese counterpart in Tokyo

Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Monday held a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Hayashi Yoshimasa as he reached in Tokyo to join the funeral services of Japanese former premier Shinzo Abe on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Japanese foreign minister expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh government for observing state mourning and parliament to adopt condolence motion on Abe, according to a message received reached Dhaka, reports BSS.
Momen said Bangladesh government and its people expressed deep condolence at the sad demise of Abe as the former Japanese premier was a true friend of Bangladesh.6

He showed keen interest to work together for elevating the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan to a new height.

Bangladesh foreign minister also sought more Japanese investment to Bangladesh.

Momen sought further Japanese support to commence the Rohingya repatriation from Bangladesh to Myanmar.

Yoshimasa reiterated Japan's support to Bangladesh for resolving the Rohingya crisis.
