Fire Service and Civil Defence department in Chattogram rescued nine bodies of firefighters from the devastating blaze that broke out at an inland container depot in Chattogram on Saturday night.

Earlier, it was confirmed that eight bodies were recovered.

“We have recovered eight dead bodies and still four firefighters are missing,” Kafiluddin, media officer at Chattogram divisional control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence department, told the Business Insider Bangladesh.

So far, at least 35 people were killed and over 300 injured at the BM Container Depot in Sitakunda, around 40 km away from Chattogram.

More than 300 people got injured in that fire following an explosion.

Some 29 firefighting units are still working to control the fire. However, it is not possible to know how long it will take to tame it.

More than 200 injured have so far been taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Ambulances carrying injured persons were still coming to the hospital nearly three hours after the explosion.
