Some 2.2 million secondary and equivalent students are taking their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams, the first of any public tests amid the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, today.

The test will last 90 minutes considering various factors such as health risk and lack of classroom teaching.

The exams have been deferred by nine months as the number of deadly infections continued to soar. Some classes were held online.

The government reopened the schools and colleges for in-person classes in September after the pandemic ebbed.

Education Minister Dipu Moni had said the results would be published within 30 days after completion of the exams.
