Bangladesh team visits Rosatom Tech in Russia

A high-level delegation from Bangladesh headed by Brigadier General of the NRB Army Abu Noman Md Shibbir Ahmed visited Rosatom Technical Academy in Russia recently.

The main goal of the visit was getting acquainted with the activities of the technical academy in the field of training personnel for nuclear power facilities.

The First Vice-Rector of the Technical Academy, Vladimir Aspidov, described about the Academy’s experience in the field of personnel training during the opening day meeting, it said, reports BSS on Tuesday.

“Within the framework of the Rooppur NPP construction project alone, until 2023, the Technical Academy will train about 1,400 Bengali nuclear specialists to work at the nuclear power plant,” Vladimir Aspidov said.

He added, “In addition, the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Institute (GNSSI), which is part of the Technical Academy, has developed new training courses for physical protection foreign personnel of nuclear facilities.”

According to Egor Bologov, director of the GNSSI, most of these training courses provide for practical work with various means and devices of physical protection at a special training outdoor areas and laboratories of the complex of technical facilities of physical protection.

During the technical tour, the foreign guests visited specialised training classrooms, training outdoor areas and laboratories of technical means of physical protection. Attention was drawn to a testing laboratory equipped with modern equipment and measuring instruments that allow testing special products with the required accuracy, including in climatic conditions similar to the climate of Bangladesh.

Representatives of the Bangladeshi side expressed interest to the activities of the GNSSI. The parties agreed to cooperate in the training of personnel for the physical protection of the Rooppur NPP.
