Hasan attends 2nd EU Indo-pacific Ministerial Forum at Stockholm

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud attended the 2nd EU Indo-pacific Ministerial Forum held at Stockholm on Saturday, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

The minister led a Bangladesh delegation in the forum, said a release received on Sunday.

On the sidelines of the forum, Hasan had bilateral meetings with Belgium Foreign Minister Hadja Lahabib, State Minister for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development of the United Kingdom Lord Ahmad and Secretary of State of Portugal Francisco Andre.

During the meeting with the UK state minister, they discussed the whole gamut of multifarious relations between Bangladesh and the UK. 

In the meeting, they particularly focused on climate cooperation, trade and investment etc. 

Lord Ahmad extended thanks to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for attending the historic coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the release added. 

He also praised the recent economic development of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

They also discussed the Rohingya issue and the UK state minister assured that his country will continue to support Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue and will remain engaged in ensuring sustainable return of the Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar.

During the meeting with the Bangladesh information minister, the State Secretary of Portugal praised the growing Bangladeshi community in Portugal for their hard-working and entrepreneurial nature and for their positive contribution to the Portuguese society and economy. 

He particularly appreciated the way the Bangladeshi community is integrating with Portuguese society. 

The State Secretary also informed that the Portugal government is in the process of opening a consular mission in Dhaka by next year.

Later, Hasan had a bilateral meeting with Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahabib. 

Both the ministers discussed the Rohingya repatriation. 

They also emphasised increasing the trade between Bangladesh and Belgium, the release said.
