Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus is going to be appointed as an alternate executive director to the World Bank Group, according to a press release of the World Bank.

He will represent Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka.

A recent cabinet meeting took a thanksgiving motion in favour of Kaikaus who is set to go on Leave Preparatory to Retirement after serving the government for more than three decades, on December 8th.

The Public Administration ministry is likely to issue a circular tomorrow (Tuesday) on the matter.  

According to the World Bank release, Dr Kaikaus is a career civil servant with 36 years of experience in policy making and project implementation.

Prior to his new job, he had served as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Also, he had held positions of Senior Secretary and Secretary of the Power Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Chairman, Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council and Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, among other posts.

Dr Kaikaus earned his PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy from the University of Texas and his Master’s degree from the Centre for Development Economics, Williams College, Massachusetts. He graduated in Economics from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
