Mashing can be tasty too. Surprise? You don't need to be. We are talking about the Bengali traditional side dish ‘bharta’—mashed vegetable, fish or fruit. Bharta is a Bengali traditional food cuisine.

Bharta was already a popular dish in Bangladesh. Its appeal went international when Kishwar Chowdhury prepared panta vat (rice soaked and fermented in water), with potato bharta and fish fry in MasterChef Australia.

In Bangladesh, there are several places that are famous for bharta. Just to have bharta and rice, foodies often visit those places travelling long distances.

There are some people who possess magic on their hands and can prepare bharta that tastes magical.

These bharta makers now have the opportunity to prove their talents through a national competition.

Channel i is looking for these magical hands and that's why they are organising a “National Bhorta Competition 2022”.

On Sunday, Channel I announced this competition at the press conference.

It was jointly organised by ACI Pure Mustard Oil and Ananda Alo. The press conference was held at the premises of Channel I.

Channel I, News Head and Director Shykh Seraj; Business Director of ACI Foods Limited, ACI Flour Limited, ACI Edible Oil Limited, ACI Foods Rice Faria Yasmin, chef Keka Ferdousi, chef Rahima Sultana Rita and other cooking specialists were present there.

Distinguished culinary artists and many other renowned personalities graced the event with their presence.
