E-passport programme at Bangladesh Consulate in NY launched

The e-passport programme was inaugurated at the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York, on Saturday, said a press release of Bangladesh Consulate General.

The e-passport programme was jointly inaugurated by Md Mokabbir Hossain, Secretary to the department of security and services of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Sadia Faizunnesa, Consul General of Bangladesh, in New York.

Brigadier General Saidur Rahman Khan, Project Director of E-Passport and Automatic Border Control and Management Project, senior officials of the Immigration and Passport Department of Dhaka, service candidates at the consulate and the embassy staff took part in the function.

Consul General Sadia Faizunnesa presided over the programme while Md Mokabbir Hossain spoke as the chief guest. Brigadier General Saidur Rahman Khan, the E-passport project director, spoke as a special guest.

The Secretary and the Consul General then handed over the enrolment slips of e-passports to some of the applicants.
