5 Rohingyas killed in Cox’s Bazar landslide

A landslide killed at least five people at Balukhali Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.

Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.

The landslide occurred at Balukhali camp-10 and Palong Khali camp-18 around 11am, according to a local sources.

A chunk of a hill collapsed on the camp due to the heavy rain, Cox's Bazar Armed Police Battalion-16 Commander (superintendent of police) Mohammad Tariqul Islam, said adding that most of the victims were children.

The Rohingyas flocked to Bangladesh from Myanmar on August 25, 2016 and since then around 11 lakh of Rohingya people have been living at 34 camps in Cox’s Bazar.
