Govt to appoint 8,000 doctors, nurses to fight Covid-19: Health minister

The government will appoint additional 8,000 doctors and nurses to accelerate the treatment facilities for people amid the coronavirus pandemic, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said.

“We will recruit the doctors and nurses without any viva and police verification report to address the situation,” Zahid Maleque told reporters after the regular weekly meeting of the Cabinet Division on Monday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the concerned authorities to strengthen vaccination campaign to get rid of the situation, he health minister said.

Maleque came up with the announcement as Bangladesh again reported 228 deaths and 11,291 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours until Sunday morning.

The new numbers took the country’s death tally to 19,274 today while the caseload to 1,164,635.
