Bangladesh will get 10 lakh doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine from GAVI under a global arrangement called COVAX facility by August, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said on Wednesday.
“We will get 10 lakh doses of AstraZeneca vaccine by August, alongside, there has been a considerable progress in talks with Russia on purchasing of the vaccines,” the minister said.
While addressing a press conference at his ministry office at the Secretariat, Maleque said an agreement has been signed with China on behalf of the country and the next step will be taken on receipt of the answer from the country.
There are 11 lakh doses of vaccine in the government’s stock now and of them, five lakh people will be given first and second doses, he said.
