2,670 pieces of Yaba in stomach: Man held at Dhaka airport

Law enforcers detained a man who was carrying 2,670 pieces of banned Yaba tablets in his stomach from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday night.

The detainee Md Shahidullah, 42, landed at the airport by a flight of US Bangla Airlines from Cox’s Bazar at 8:00pm, Mohammad Ziaul Haque, additional police super of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn), told the media.

Sensing his suspicious movement at the airport, a team of APBn detained him and at one point of interrogation, the detainee confessed that he was carrying the Yaba tablets in his stomach.

On completion of x-ray, the APBn officials recovered the Yaba from his possession, Ziaul Haque said.

A case is under process to be lodged under the Narcotic Control Act, the APBn official said.
