Covid-19 cases: Top 10 districts in Bangladesh

Dhaka is obviously on top of the list as around two crore (20 million) people live in this congested city.

Chattogram comes on the second spot as it is the second largest city in the country.

But what are the other eight districts where more Covid-19 cases are found than other 62 districts?

The Business Insider Bangladesh has analysed the data compiled by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to find out the districts.

As of May 16, a total of 3,25,375 positive cases were detected in Dhaka while 46,378 in Chattogram, 14,618 in Narayanganj and 14,479 in Comilla, according to the DGHS.

Since the outbreak of the virus in China in 2019, the health authority in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020 and recorded the first death caused by the virus on March 18 in the same year.

With the Monday’s updated figures, the death toll of the virus rose to 12,181 while the caseload to 7,80,857 in the country so far.

As many as 1,058 patients were declared free from the infection, taking the number of total recovery to 7, 23, 098, the DGHS said in its handout.
