Bangladesh Railway will run at least eight parcel trains to help farmers transporting their products during the nationwide strict lockdown to begin from Wednesday.

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan came up with the announcement while addressing a press conference at the Rail Bhaban in Dhaka this noon.

The eight trains will be operated on Dhaka-Sylhet, Chattogram-Sarishabari, Khulna-Chilahati and Dhaka-Panchagarh routes from tomorrow, the minister said in the press conference.

The government has announced one-week countrywide lockdown to be enforced from 6:00am on Wednesday and it will continue until the April 21 midnight to halt the spread of coronavirus.

Public transports including bus, launch, passengers’ train and flight operation on domestic and international routes will remain suspended during the lockdown.

Besides, the offices of government, semi-government, nongovernment and autonomous bodies across the country will also remain closed at the same time to make the efforts successful.
