BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s condition is stable, said her personal physician team chief F M Siddique on Monday.

“Her condition is very stable. She is in good condition till today. We will be free from danger, if she passes one-week with such condition,” Siddique told reporters after examining health condition of the former prime minister at her house in Gulshan-2 area this evening.

The BNP chairperson underwent Covid-19 test on Saturday evening and the results came out to be positive.

Responding to a query, he said, “If we think, we will have to take her to hospital, we do it instantly. We are prepared.”

A team of physician led by Siddique entered Khaleda Zia’s rented house Firiza around 5:00pm and examined her until 6:00am.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government freed Khaleda Zia from jail for six months through an executive order suspending her sentences on March 25 last year.

On the same day, she was released from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and since then she has been staying at her Gulshan house.

On August 27 last year, the government extended her release for six more months and it was extended again for six months on March 15 last.

On February 8, 2018, Khaleda was sent to the Old Dhaka Central Jail after a lower court sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.

The High Court later doubled her jail term as she Khaleda was found guilty in another corruption case in the same year.
