Banks in Bangladesh will remain closed due to the week-long lockdown starting from Wednesday, said a circular issued by the Bangladesh Bank on Monday evening.
The circular said some specific branches at ports and customs and authorised dealer branches that handle foreign exchange will be on during the lockdown.
In another circular on Monday, the central bank said banks should take necessary steps to ensure availability of funds in the ATMs during the weeklong stricter lockdown.
During the first coronavirus lockdown in 2020, the banks remained operational at limited scale with reduced workforce.
