Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday called upon concerned people in the administration to keep close watch so that goods-laden vehicles cannot carry passengers during the lockdown.

huge rush of home-bound people at different launch and ferry terminals is being witnessed and no one of them was seen following the heath guideline and social distancing rule, Quader said.

Such type of mentality of the people will lead the coronavirus situation to a deteriorating situation, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, expressed his worry.

He was addressing a virtual press conference held at his official residence on Parliament Complex premises this noon.

Many transport owners and workers did not keep their words in maintaining health guideline and in collecting the government fixed transport fare from passengers during the previous lockdown, he expressed his resentment.

He stressed the need for conducting mobile court by increasing its number across the country so that people are forced wear mask.

Where there will be irregularity, action must be taken, the Awami League leader said calling upon the transport owners to strictly maintain the government imposed instruction in the sector.

Earlier in the day, the government issued a notification over enforcing a fresh strict lockdown from April 14 to 21 in an effort to stop the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Under the fresh lockdown all government, semi-government, autonomous, private offices and financial institutions will remain closed but the officers and employees will have to stay in their respective work stations.
