Bangladesh reported 78 daily deaths on Sunday, the highest since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of death was 77 a day earlier. 

Meanwhile, another 5,819 cases have been detected across the nation in the last 24 hours with an infection rate of 19.81 percent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The overall infection rate, however, stands at 13.69 percent.

With the new figures, the number of positive cases now rose to 6,84,756 and the number of deaths reached 9,739.

DGHS further said that 4,212 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients so far is 576,590 – which is 84.20 percent of the total infected.

During the last 24 hours, 29,376 samples were tested across the country. A total of 50,02,865 samples have been tested in the country so far.

According to the Worldometer data, 136,129,987 cases of coronavirus have been detected worldwide as of Sunday afternoon. The number of deaths reached 2,941,267.

The US is the country with the most numbers of Covid-19 positive cases, followed by Brazil, India, France, Russia and the UK.
