9 individuals, one organisation named for Independence Awards

The government on Sunday named nine individuals and one organisation for the Independence Awards in 2021.

The individuals are: AKM Bazlur Rahman (independence and liberation war), Ahsan Ullah Master (independence and liberation war), Valiant freedom fighter Brigadier General Khurshid Uddin Ahmed (independence and liberation war), Akktaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu (independence and liberation war), Dr Mrinmoy Guha Niogi (science and technology), Mahadev Saha (literature), Ataur Rahman (culture), Gazi Mazharul Anwar (culture) and Professor Dr M Amjad Hossain (social welfare).

The organisation is Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (research and training)

This is the highest state award in the country. The government has been giving the award every year since 1977 on the occasion of Independence Day on March 26.
